Separate the photo size from the paper size
The photo dimensions describe the rectangle you are preparing. The paper dimensions describe the sheet around it. You can place a 5 × 7 inch photo on Letter paper without enlarging the photo to fill that sheet.
Measure the space you need to fill. For a frame, check its opening and any overlap around the edges. Keep the unit beside your measurements:
| Requested photo | Equivalent dimensions |
|---|---|
| 2 × 3 inches | 5.08 × 7.62 cm |
| 5 × 7 inches | 12.7 × 17.78 cm |
A 5 × 7 cm print is a different size from a 5 × 7 inch print.
Decide whether to crop or leave space
If your photo and target rectangle have different proportions, decide which matters most:
- Fill the rectangle: crop some image content so the visible photo reaches all four edges.
- Keep the whole photo: preserve the composition and accept white space. The visible image may then be narrower or shorter than the target rectangle.
Check faces, text and objects near the edges before exporting. A full rectangle and an uncropped image are only compatible when their proportions match.
Prepare the page in Printmira
- Enter the required width and height in inches, centimeters or millimeters.
- Select your photo and choose the placement that gives you the crop or white space you want.
- Choose the paper you will actually load. Printmira supports Letter, A4, 4 × 6 and 5 × 7 paper.
- Inspect the full page preview. Check orientation, image edges and space around the photo.
- Generate the PDF when the layout is ready.

Keep the PDF at its intended scale
For AirPrint, use a compatible printer on the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone, then open the PDF in an app that supports printing. Apple explains the printing steps here.
Check the selected paper and available sizing options. The iPhone print panel does not always expose a scale control. If you cannot control sizing, check whether your printer's own software supports PDF scaling, or transfer the PDF to a computer.
On Mac, Preview lets you enter a Scale percentage; use 100%. In desktop Acrobat, choose Actual size. This preserves scale but can clip content outside the printable area.
Measure one print before making more
Print one page and measure the intended photo rectangle with a ruler. If you kept white space, distinguish the image edges from the full rectangle. Check both width and height before trimming.
A correct PDF layout cannot guarantee identical output from every printer and print setting. If the measurements differ, investigate paper selection and scaling before changing your original photo dimensions.

Can I enter centimeters instead of converting to inches?
Yes. Printmira accepts centimeters and millimeters as well as inches. Enter the unit used by your frame or project.
Does selecting 5 × 7 paper make my photo 5 × 7 inches?
No. Select the photo dimensions separately. Paper size controls the surrounding sheet.
Can I preview the result before paying?
Yes. Project preview is free. Generating the photo PDF requires Pro.
